02

Start something

Swipe the deck, answer the daily debate, or join a live Buna table near your neighborhood.

03

Take it further

Matched pairs get a private chat. Chambers give a debate 6 focused hours to become something more.

Honestly, Friday nights hit different when you actually leave the house instead of pretending you have plans.

Wait, who called you out like that?! 😂 Some of us actually enjoy recharging at home without spending half our salary on a dinner bill.

Both of you are boring. Someone new just sat down! Save us from this debate — what’s the best way to spend a Friday evening in Addis?

QALLAK SAFETY PROTOCOL

Real people. Real accountability.

Authentic community requires absolute peace of mind. We maintain zero-tolerance for harassment, ghosting bots, and catfish accounts.

Selfie verification

Live selfie checks and face matching keep catfish out. Verified members carry the badge.

Panic report

Every Buna table has a panic button. Enough reports and the table pauses instantly — no moderator needed.

Block & be gone

Blocking is total: no profile, no messages, no resurfacing in any deck, table, or debate.

Questions

Asked and answered.

Is Qallak free?

Yes. Matching, chatting, daily debates, and Buna tables are free forever. Paid plans raise your daily limits and unlock extras like seeing who liked you.

What does "Qallak" mean?

Qallak (ቃላክ) plays on "ቃል" - word. We're built on the belief that the right words start everything: a debate, a friendship, a love story.

What exactly is a Buna table?

A small live group chat modeled on the Ethiopian coffee ceremony: a host, a handful of seats, one topic, and honest conversation. Active tables can become permanent neighborhood spots.

How do payments work?

Right now every plan and add-on is unlocked with Qallak points you earn in the app: invite friends or watch a short rewarded ad. Payments in Ethiopian Birr (telebirr, CBE Birr and cards via Chapa) are coming soon.

Who can join?

Anyone 18 or older. Profiles go through selfie verification, and our community guidelines apply to everyone equally.
